In recent years, many industry leaders have recognized a lack of shared understanding in the Christian investing community about what Christians can affirm together as a theological basis for investing and for collaborative work among investment managers.
This need was articulated clearly at a Faith-Based Investing Summit held by Kingdom Advisors in Atlanta on April 28–29, 2025, where nearly a dozen faith-based asset managers called for a shared statement about investing. When the decision was made to launch the Christian Investing Council, the development of such a statement became an immediate priority.
At CIC’s founding, its Board of Directors was tasked with adopting statements and educational materials consistent with the Nicene Creed, expressing how the Christian faith can be applied to modern investing contexts. CIC staff undertook the initial drafting of a foundational theological statement, and conducted multiple rounds of internal and external feedback. Nearly two dozen theological and financial industry leaders from a wide range of backgrounds were invited to review drafts, and significant revisions followed.
The CIC Board of Directors unanimously voted to adopt the CIC Statement on Christian Investing as the founding expression of CIC’s convictions, and CIC was formally launched with the publication of the statement on May 25, 2026.
